Still progressing...

I know I haven't posted in a couple days on Tate's PTP (potty training progress) but that doesn't mean things aren't going well because they still are. Unfortunately it's been such a busy week I haven't been able to just simply stay at home like all the websites say you should until it's mastered so he has worn a diaper some times other than while sleeping. I'm still impressed with my guy though.

Yesterday he didn't want to wear his diaper while running errands so I packed extra clothes and we ran our errands in big boy undies. He didn't have an accident! He was awesome. He couldn't go though either when we got home. So he started playing and playing and playing all the while making time for potty breaks and he never would go. Then when his babysitter got here her and him were playing and oops accident. Oh well! He immediately knew he wasn't supposed to be going in his undies so I was happy for that. Later that night we were going out for my brother-in-laws wedding celebration dinner. We put a diaper on him not wanting to have an accident in a nice restaurant. He told us he needed to go and so in the bathroom he went. His diaper was dry and he went potty and we put back on the diaper. And it was dry when we changed him for bed too. Happy we were! And are!!

I know he seems young but being a teacher the summers is when I have time to do this and I don't want to wait a whole year to potty train. He's doing great and it will take some time but it will be worth it. And the smile he gets on his face when he does it in the potty is so great to see!

And so it continues...

This morning came way too early.. Who knew that potty training a toddler would be so tiring for the mommy. And it didn't help that I was awake at 6:45 this morning to go to the gym. After the gym I was feeling tired and so not in the mood to visit the bathroom every 20-25 minutes with Tate and cleaning up accidents. My motivation was down. That soon changed! When I got home from the gym Tate was awake and when I started to get ready to get in the shower I heard Tate crying for me to come into the bathroom. When I ran in the bathroom I saw that he had taken off his shorts and diaper and he had gone number 2 in the toilet! It wasn't much but it was something. Then a little while later he did it again!!!!! He is so awesome. I was so happy and my motivation sky rocketed! I know he will still have accidents (many many many!!) but I am really impressed with his progress. This method is going so much better than before. I have to do more laundry but it will be worth it if it gets this potty training thing done quicker!

Let the potty training begin...

Warning.. this post might be a little TMI for anyone who doesn't care about an adorable two year old learning to go to the bathroom in the big boy toilet.

Well I have been trying since the end of May to start potty training. Tate had gone a few times but we weren't really committed. I decided this is the time to go full force. So we went out and he picked out (with me shoving them in his face) Mickey Mouse undies. After he woke up this morning we sat on the potty after breakfast (he had stayed dry!!). After a minute of crying and screaming for Mommy I decided that maybe he wanted to try the little potty we have for him instead of the big toilet. I let him try that and he decided to go back to the big toilet. THANK GOODNESS!!! I did not want to be cleaning that chair every half an hour. So he got comfortable and after about 5 more minutes he went potty!! I was so happy!!!!! And I think he was too. He couldn't wait to call his Papa!

But its been less than 25 minutes and he has had an accident.. It was a dirty accident. I'm not too worried about that though he has never done that in the big boy potty so I am sure he just didn't know. Luckily it was easy clean up and we talked about it. So now he is back on the potty and we are awaiting more pee-pee.

We will see how many pairs of undies he goes through before lunch... Good thing I just restocked my laundry supply. :)
